The Difference Between Juice Fasting and Juice Detox

A juice detox is very similar to a juice fast with one essential difference. You continue to eat certain foods while you drink your juices. Alternatively, you may want to drink your fruit juices throughout the day and have a bowl of clear vegetable broth in the evening. The length of time you remain on the juice detox is entirely up to you however it is not advisable to continue for more than a week or two at most.

A juice detox is a great way to start off your detoxing career or for those of you who are veterans of the diets then this is a fantastic little fill in between those 30 day fasts. Either way the benefits will be felt within days of your first juice drink and they will continue to be felt for months after you finish.

Our bodies are around 75 per cent water and our brains about 85 per cent water, and we need to keep that level stable. We can go without food for many days but just one or two days without any liquid will result in dehydration and death.

In hot weather or during exercise you lose more water than normal so you should increase this amount to cover the deficit. If you detox your body in the summer or do more exercise, you may require even more. At first this may feel like too much and you will spend a lot of time going to the bathroom! But after a few days your body will become used to the amount and will start to make you thirsty for more. You must be sure to spread this water over the whole day. Drinking it all in one go will put pressure on your internal organs and is not healthy. Reduce the amount you drink leading up to bedtime, as this will prevent you having to get up during the night.

Following a body detox diet is not as hard as you may think. Simply by replacing some of the foods in your diet, drinking more water and perhaps cutting down on processed foods for a few days and you’re well on your way to detox your body.
